San Miguel del Bala – Community Ecotourism the shelter, gives you the opportunity to experience the rain forest in the buffer zone at Madidi National Park habitat for thousands of species of wildlife through several paths that run through environmental interpretation, allowing individuals to see different ecosystems and different from each other. The lodge built with own materials from the site, taken from the surrounding forest, has been conceived as an alternative source of income economic generation for the community of origin Tacana, to promote natural resources, preservation of the area and to become an environmental education tool for visitors.

Along community guides from San Miguel de Bala and depending on your length of stay that can vary from 1 to 5 days, you can enjoy observing wildlife deep into the jungle, learn about medicinal plants, visiting breeding areas and blue macaws and learn traditional hunting techniques visiting a Tacana  community.

Day 1 Rurrenabaque – San Miguel del Bala
We meet in Rurrenabaque and head to the port, where the bote waits for transporting us during 40 minutes by Beni River inside the jungle till Eco-Hostel San Miguel de Bala. With the local guide we walk by the rainy forest for learning the old hunting techniques from Tacana’s. With several traps as a starting point the guide explains how hunting before was to get meat and horns such as jaguars, troop pigs, monkeys, birds and tapirs. We return to the lodge for lunch. During the afternoon we have a short walking to San Miguel Community. Here the guide tells us boat daily life, crops, building techniques, religion, crafts, customs and traditions from the place. A huge experience is the cane juice preparation in the mill. For those who know the first step in the long and heavy process of making sugar, never be the same sweeten your coffee.

Day 2 San Miguel del Bala – Rurrenabaque
After breakfast we sail the boat by the river, until our destiny where an adventuress walk begins following a stream through the rainforest. During the way the guide explains about wildlife present. We get into a natural pool with clear water of a beautiful waterfall where you can take a refreshing swim. We back to Eco-lodge where a lunch waits for us then take a nap in the hammocks. During the afternoon we go for a walk in an area full of medical plants named “La farmacia de San Miguel” (San Miguel Drugstore). The guide shares his knowledge about medical plants and how you can treat any sickness with natural medicine and with a good relationship with Pachamama – Mother Earth. We back to Rurrenabaque at sunset.

Day 1Rurrenabaque – San Miguel del Bala

After breakfast we sail by the river until our destiny there we begin an adventurous walking following a brook by the rainforest. During the way the guide explains about wildlife present. We get into a natural pool with clear water of a beautiful waterfall where you can take a refreshing swim. We back to Eco-lodge where a lunch waits for us then take a nap in the hammocks. During the afternoon we go for a walk in an area full of medical plants named “La farmacia de San Miguel” (San Miguel Drugstore). After dinner unless visitors prefer to relax the guide takes them for a walking in the darkness forest. From the Eco- lodge you can borrow lanterns for having a better view from animals that are alive at nights such as nocturnal monkeys.

Day 3 San Miguel del Bala – Rurrenabaque
Seeing the first sunlight’s we have breakfast before traveling by Tuichi and Beni River passing by the famous mountains Del Bala to Caquihuara inside National Park Madidi. During the trip there are good opportunities to see capybaras’, monkeys and other mammal’s drinking water from the river or swaying over the tree branches. In Caquihuara you can see blue and red macaws in danger of extinction they only live on a special mud wall. With a beautiful view from the macaws over our heads you have lunch at a picnic style. For those who desires to take a bath or throwing a hook waiting for a fish to swallow. Return to San Miguel Eco-Hostel by the same rivers. Return to Rurrenabaque at sunset.

Day 1 Rurrenabaque – San Miguel del Bala

Day 3 San Miguel del Bala
After breakfast, begins your trip of 1 hour and a half Beni River. Then you entrance to Madidi National Park through Tuichi River, a private and small river that allows you better possibilities to see animals and birds. Once installed in cabins, you can stay relaxing or go out to explore surroundings. A San Miguel de Bala count with eight paths takes you into the deep forest that surrounds cabins.  Each path vary in length and difficulty, and the guide let you decide as group where and the level path you would like to take.  After dinner your guide takes you for a night walking. Appreciate sounds and how jungle life changes and transforms at nights.

Day 4 San Miguel del Bala– Rurrenabaque
During the morning we take a walk where we have the opportunity to see monkeys, troop pigs, tapirs, agoutis and other wild animals; it is a great chance to have huge events with wildlife. The path passes through areas of great natural beauty, with plenty fruits and salitral (a cave with salt land) that attracts wildlife. We visit the Natural canyon 150 meters long, the formation of rocks is so narrow during the trip that you can touch both sides at once. Return by boat to Eco- hostel for lunch. Afternoon is available for every visitor, you can visit to the interactive center about Tacana’s culture, practice shots, during dry season explore carved stones or just enjoy the quite atmosphere, the sounds of the jungle and the roar of the river from your hammock. Return to Rurrenabaque at sunset.

Program
We meet in Rurrenabaque and ahead to harbor where a boat waits for us to take us for 40 minutes by Beni River in the jungle until San Miguel del Bala Eco-lodge.  With a local guide will take a walk along a stream through the forest where they explain us about wildlife present during the trip. We arrive at a natural pool filled by crystalline water from a beautiful waterfall. There is time for a refreshing bath and to be given with the sharp water decline a back or feet massage. Back on foot and by boat to the Eco-lodge where a delicious lunch prepared with local ingredients following a typical recipe.

In the afternoon we will begin with a short trek to San Miguel community. Here the guide explains about daily life, crops, building techniques, religion, crafts, customs and traditions from the place. A huge experience is the cane juice preparation in the mill.
