Mission and Communities in Concepción - 2 DAYS/1 NIGHT

Day 1
This programme starts in the city of Santa Cruz, from there we head to Concepción, the most important of the Jesuitical Missions in the Chiquitanía region. There we have lunch and after lunch we visit the Mission Ensemble: the Cathedral of Concepción built about the middle of the XVIII century and considered the most spectacular of all. Its architecture, as well as the paintings and sculptures it holds, perfectly show the devoted symbiosis history between the Chiquitano indigenous people and the Jesuit missionaries.  Accommodation in a high class hotel equipped with a swimming-pool and an orchid nursery. Visit of the ethno-folklore museum that shows the region’s native people. In the evening we head to the nearby Santa Rita village, there we have a typical dinner and enjoy a cultural autochthonic music and dance night show. So you will be able to truly appreciate live Chiquitano culture that conserves its native language, its lifestyle, its tales and legends.

Day 2
The second day we’ll go for a walk through the Chiquitano Woods around Candelaria community where you will discover its natural riches. Community members will show you their art and handicraft manufacturings and will serve you a typical lunch. In the afternoon we’ll visit the oldest site of the Misiones: San Xavier. There you will enjoy another neo-baroque Chiquitano architecture jewel. After that we return to Santa Cruz around dinner time.
